Owned and run by Chef Martin Shanahan and his wife Marie, the shear popularity of Fishy Fishy has seen them expand their original fish shop & seafood café to open a large seafront restaurant in Kinsale.

Martin selects the best of local produce. His fish is locally sourced where possible, and his relationship with Kinsale’s fisherman and fishery’s along the South Coast ensures the best and freshest of seafood. His menu changes daily to reflect the changing seasons and catches of the day. All dishes are freshly cooked to order, with the emphasis on quality ingredients.

Martin’s philosophy is seafood is a gift, not a commodity, so please come open minded! Open for lunch and dinner, booking is highly recommended at this popular Kinsale restaurant.

Awards & Accolades

Fishy Fishy has been represented in Sally & John McKennas Bridgestone Top 100 Restaurants in Ireland for the last 8 years. The restaurant was also presented with the Best Seafood Restaurant of the Year 2006 by Georgina Campbell and has featured in her guide since 2001. Fishy Fishy has also received a Michelin BIB gourmand award and was voted Best Restaurant of the Year and Best Seafood Restaurant of the Year by the RIA in 2005, 2006, 2007 and most recently in 2008. The restaurant has recently been awarded ‘Best Seafood Restaurant in Munster’ by Food & Wine Magazine.

Martin’s passion for all things seafood is evident in Fishy Fishy’s popularity and awards. It has also seen him make a move to television, presenting several RTE food series: Martin’s Mad About Fish, Martin’s Still Mad About Fish, Surf ‘n’ Turf (with Paul Flynn), as well as producing a range of cookbooks.
